Founder’s Vision Statement

.....The family that plays together stays together...
Howard C. Harris, Jr., A.Mus.D.

The People's Family Workshop/The Peoples' Workshop is more than a talent show. It’s a movement that is needed in today’s times. Divided we fall, but together we stand are words expressed in the project theme song, “Family.” Those words along with my zeal for creating learning opportunities, sponsorship support and industry exposure for striving artistic talents fueled this vision.

The organization reaches out to provide all creative artists an opportunity to present themselves to the world, regardless of their means.  Future greats in the likes of Mahalia Jackson, Robert Frost, Michelangelo, Michael Jackson, Duke Ellington and countless others throughout history could be or could have been among the millions of talents never known because of the lack of support or exposure.

Gifted talents of all age groups and cultures take us to and beyond the "commercial" products to a colorful well-spring of creative arts exhibition. The culminating event, the annual grand awards show, "Mirror of Life Awards, " is aimed at showcasing our best— not just our best artistic talents, but in the process, our best example of camaraderie as a global human family.

Quoting Picasso, “The arts hold up the mirror to life.” I perceive music as a mirror of life.

Everyone should enjoy the beauty and benefits of artistic exhibition and positive association.

It’s a God-given path to connecting the human family around the arts.

ow, more than ever, people need a medium for delighting and rallying around each other. The dis-connect syndrome has abounded at every level and aspect of society—not only between nations, individual families and governing bodies such as the United States Congress, it’s a disease that proliferates in panoramic proportions. There is a need for mankind to come together as brothers and sisters unified in the true essence of family. Quoting Picasso, “The arts hold up the mirror to life.” I perceive music is a mirror of life. Everyone should enjoy the beauty and benefits of positive association and artistic creativity. It’s a God-given path to connecting the human family around its talents.

The culminating event is aimed at showcasing our best—not just our best artistic talents, but our best spirit of amity, our best support of youths, our best example of living in harmony with one another, exemplifying love and acceptance without prejudice. Upon that principle and that vision, The People’s Family Workshop was founded.
